June 2007
Dear Junior Parent(s),
I hope this finds you well. As
the Director of Service Programs, it is important for me
to know that you understand the expectations that are set
forth for your son or daughter as they enter junior year.
This year the students enter into
a crucial phase of the service experience as a member of
the Prep community. As you may or may not know students are
expected to work in a community agency and perform tasks
that enable them to interact and develop relationships with
those they serve.
I will be explaining all of this
to the students in September but I realize that some students
enjoy serving their communities over the summer. If this
is the case please contact me by e-mail at mbernard@scrantonprep.com or
by phone at 570-941-7737, ext. 131, if you have any concerns
or questions, to find a placement, or have your chosen placement
approved.
All service hours for juniors
need to be pre-approved. What was acceptable in freshmen
and sophomore year may not be acceptable for junior year!
Again, if you have any questions,
I would be more than happy to speak with you, and I look
forward to helping your son or daughter coordinate an experience
that will bring their talents and gifts to those in our community
that need them.
Thank you,
Matthew R. Bernard, MS, NCC
